Home Biz Myth Busted - You’re Always Available

by Yvonne Russell on February 12th, 2008

Janice Sharman at The American Chronicle highlights the widespread Home Biz Myth that clients think you are available all the time.

This is just one point mentioned in Sharman’s interesting article about the advantages and disadvantages of having an internet based home business.

It’s not just clients either. Friends and family often don’t understand that because you are home, you can’t just drop everything and go out to lunch at a moment’s notice. How do you get through to them that you are running a serious business?

What is your favorite home biz myth?

To submit your own favorite “myth busted” experience or tip, email me at yvonne.russell [at] b5 media [dot] com. Be sure to put Home Biz Myth Busted in the subject line so I don’t delete it as spam.

Include your name, the name and URL of your home business or business related site, so I can link to you. You don’t need a website or blog to submit your myth. Any business that involves working or managing the business at least part of the time from home qualifies as a home business.

I look forward to hearing from you. Let’s bust some more home biz myths.

My least favorite home biz myth is that since I am at home in my business, people can stop by to visit and chat! I hate that!

Another one is that my customers can call me on a Sunday evening to order product, or talk. Ever hear of closing time??

    Hi Megan
You’ve hit on two home biz myths we can all identify with. At least it’s good to know you’re not alone in this.

What’s the solution, do you think?
